AFRICA CALLS

In about two hours Our favorite youngest daughter, her husband and myself will embark on a journey that will take us first to New York City where prayerfully we will connect with one of my favorite granddaughters. We will next fly to Dubai, then on to Adds Ababa Ethiopia where Lord willing, we will "fetch" the newly adopted little boy and girl and bring them back to a fantastic new life. This will enable the foster homes to accept two more destitute, desperate children.

One cannot describe the emotions. I can only say for now God is in control.
The journey will require more than one week.
Check in about the eighth of May.
I'll tell you more.

Shalom for now,
Charlie

I REMEMBER

Lisa Hepner is a young woman who, along with her husband Jonathan and two other children have adopted two deaf children from Ethiopia.

Upon her return from Ethiopia she wrote in her blog “creating our family,” several paragraphs entitled: “I wasn’t prepared for THIS.”

The entry is a short article about some of the incredibly positive experiences since her return a few weeks ago.

It caused me to remember experiences with children and grandchildren:

I remember when our oldest, now in her forties was born.
I remember playing on the bed with her, how she would remove her clothing when she was so little.

I remember walking on the sidewalk with her as she stumbled more than walked and discovered, on her own, the moon overhead.

I remember thinking before her brother was born, “My love for her is so great, how could there be room for another?

There was, in equal portions, nothing diminished.

Then came their little sister who is now waiting for the completion of the paper work that will make Amit and Tebebu their first children.
My love grew again

Years later the experience repeated with grandchildren. The capacity to love expanded as one by one they entered our lives.

I remember sitting on the riverbank, kicking back, looking at the clouds.
I remember holding our now favorite seventeen year old when she suffered the effects of colic and the ladies were at their wit’s end.
I remember softball, volleyball, soccer, football, hunting, hugs, teaching them to drive...................

I love each ”child” and grandchild, in his or her own special way and now it is happening again.

Soon Lord willing, I will venture half way around the globe with our favorite youngest and her husband to “fetch” two little deaf children. After more than forty years experience I am now confident God will expand the capacity to love even more.

Actually, He already has.
