I am here in the Missouri Ozarks where I will stay for the summer.
A few days ago I visited Black Widow, the premier manufacturer of longbows and recurve bows.
There on the wall was a sign that read:
"May the good Lord be your outfitter and guide; may He cause you to always shoot straight:
and may the trophies you persue be worthy of the Book.

Augustine
The quote below is from the outline of the lesson today, presented by “Cardinal” Smith.
You gotta see him preaching in blue jeans to appreciate the humor of that title.

Augustine of Hippo once prayed: “You breathed forth fragrances and I drew in my breath, and I still pant for You. I tasted much, and still I hunger and thirst. You touched me and I burned with desire for Your peace.”

Would that we all have the same desire for God that Augustine had.

A few days ago I was carrying vegetation to the street for pick-up when I noticed two rain lily flowers in the yard.
Nothing unusual about that except rainfall in this usually nearly tropical paradise is at a five yeara low.
Yet there they were in their splendor amongst the tinder dry grass and weeds that make up our lawn.
Now they are gone and I can't even find the leaves of the plant!
Ain’t God good?

Swallow Tailed Kite

Yesterday while I was toiling outside in the torrid heat I looked up just in time to see a swallow tailed kite swoop low, rise again and dissappear.

They are beautiful raptors and incredible acrobats in the airThey seem to arrive in the spring and leave in the fall.
I enjoy watching them whenever I can.

Forty Four Years

Today my favorite wife and I celebrate forty four years of being married to each other.
She hastens to remind me when I say "favorite" that I she is my only wife.

Thoughts:
Someone once said: "Patience is a virtue." I'm still learning.

"Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies." Proverbs thirty one ten.

"Favor is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that fears the Lord, she shall be praised." Proverbs thirty one thirty.

Yesterday my favorite fourteen year old and I went for a ride in my pickup truck to an area where there were streets and no houses. Twenty eight years ago his dad and I did the same

We changed seats and he learned how to shift gears in a manual transmission vehicle. It wasn't surprising that a lad who, the day before had been grading with a laser guided blade on a skid steer had pretty good coordination skills.

Should he ever need to drive a stick-shift he can, with practice.

We next drove half way across the county to a Starbucks.

Since he has been "grounded" for throwing paper airplanes at school, I was glad to "rescue" him and we had a nice time.

Wouldn't it be nice if the greatest offence of other boys would be as benign?

I love him and I told him so.

Ain't God good?

Charlie
