Stop the blame game!
I have read and heard so much about Mel Gibson's controversial movie about the life of Christ.
Conroversial because small people make it so.
The Pope said this, no the Pope didn't, yes he did, all in the same publication, by different writers.
Then there is the rabbi who calls it anti semitic.
(Since the leaders of the Jews handed Jesus over to the Romans.)
There are those who hold Judas responsible.
There are those who hlod the Romans responsible.
Does that mean all Italians?
Some say All Christians are culpable.
READ THE BOOK!!!!!!!!!
Isiah 53 makes it clear, rabbi!!
Verse four: Surely He took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows, yet we consider Him stricken by GOD.
Verse 6 last phrase: and the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.
Verse 10: It was the Lord's will to crush Him and cause Him to suffer. (NIV)
This was handed over to you by God's set purpose and foreknowledge. Acts 2:23 (KJV)
There are other similar scriptures but if these don't convinve you, gentle reader, nothing will.

Sometimes whien I am on line I hear a ringing sound and there is an instant message from my favorite thirteen year old.
She is fair, has long blond hair, (that describes her sister too) wears small little glasses, plays the viola, and has some of the best hugs on the planet.
How sweet it is that she takes out time to "chat" with her "seasond citizen" grandfather.
She has little figures at the bottom of her messages perpetually hugging, releasing, and hugging again. It's called flying hugs.
We exchange pleasantries, she asks about her MeMaw, then the sound effect of a door closing and she is gone.
I love her so much, and I tell her.
"Children's children are a crown to the aged, and parents are the pride of their children."

Windshield Time
Today I checked in on a blog entitled "Locked Inside my Head."
What that title did to me was make me think!
We are, after all, I have been told, the final product of what we think about.
Aren't we?
Do we think about "good stuff?"
Does that make us good?
Do we think about "stuff" not so good?
Does that make us .........bad?
Windshield time.
What do you think about when you are driving?
When there is no one else with you to detract you from your thoughts?
God has given each one of us the ability to choose.
Not only what we do, but what we think about.
When we are getting serious "windshield time" do we think about Him?
Windshield time is a great time to reflect.
To think about choices we have made.
Do those thoughts cause us to change?
For the better?
Or are they locked inside our heads?
When we have good thoughts about someone
do we keep them locked inside our heads?
Maybe we shouldn't.
When we have un-complimentary thoughts about someone do we keep those locked inside our heads?
Maybe we should.

In our little fellowship we are engaged in a study of Ancient Landmarks
Martin Luther is one of the "landmarks" we have studied.
Martin Luther was a cool dude!
Over four hundred years ago he wrote:
"If I rest, I rust."
He also wrote:
"In domestic affairs I defer to (my wife) Katie.
Otherwise, I am led by the Holy Ghost."
After nearly forty two years of blood sweat and tears, (and a LOT more,) I well understand that one!

What is Contemporary Christian Music?
One "fallen" televangelist whose style of music sounds like honky tonk says it is of the devil.
It seems to me that during the ninteen eighties a revolution began in Christian music.
Some of the artists of that era turned their lives to Christ and brought into Christianity their style of music with Christian lyrics.
Rez band, Joe English, Mylon LeFevre for example.
When our then teenage daughter went to concerts, so did I, to "check out" what was happening.
At first I was confused. Then I came to realise, music is cultural. What became important to me was not the style of music, but the content, the lyrics.
Recently I was blessed to recieve two nearly "new" tapes of Mylon's "Broken Heart."
I have been enjoying them while riding in my car.
The music is at times raucous, sometimes almost serene.
Thundering guitars, booming drums, keyboard... and can you believe it? Into that mix, sometimes, a wailing saxophone.
Some of the songs were based on scripture, some were love songs to Jesus.
One of them was: Crucible of Love. The words to the chorus are:
"Oh now I know
That you touched me
To refine me like a crucible
Oh now I know that you love me
And refine me like a crucible of love"
Sung by Mylon in his high pitched south Georgia drawl.
I grew to appreciate "contemporary" Christian music.
I still do.
Proverbs 17:3 "The crucible for silver and the furnace for gold, but the LORD tests the heart."
Zechariah 13:9 " .............and refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people: and they shall say: The LORD is my GOD.
I still can't define contemporay Christian music. Can you?

I had an interesting conversation with the major.
It kinda involved how one attains one's goals.

In my attempt to kill a fly, I drove into a telephone pole.
(Expensive fly swatter!)

During the recent Christmas season an employee where my wife works was lamenting that she wasn't getting enough for Christmas. The context of the conversation would lead one to understand that she deserved more from her employer.
This from a person who spends an inordinant amount of time engaging in personal telephone conversations during "working" hours.
Another employee reminded her that Christmas is not about getting, it's about giving.
A few years ago I saw a bumper sticker which read: "Respect Me"
The first thought I had was like this: "One does not demand respect, one earns it."
"Self respect is not supposed to be self focus."

Educated people, especially scientists, are the most dishonest people on the planet! At least where the use of the word evolution is concered.
Evolve, evolve, evolve!
Let a dumb old uneducated truck driver set you straight!
Adapt, adapt, adapt.!
God's word is true! It never changes!
Neither humnakind, or any other kind ever changed from one species to another!
They adapted to a changing environment!
(I've been reading my latest copy of National Geographic.)

For about twelve years I was involved in ministry with less - capable adults.
Yesterday I did a quick visit with two of them, E. & M.(He is E. and she is M.)
They are a married couple who own a home and have jobs.
Neither one can read, and they are able to maintain a household because they are coached by folks from an agency.
Yesterday M. was very excited and told me someone is going to begin to visit and teach her to read while she is at work. There will be homework and someone from the workplace is willing to help with that.
They are both past fifty. (A lot past.)
M. has expressed a desire to learn to read. I don't know if her abilities are that high, but if desire means anything, she will.
The way best to describe M. is she would be several inches taller if she could stand erect. Her hands resemble claws with skin, and joint pain in her hands is ever present.
She was abused as a child, and often locked away, hidden.
M. has a very strong belief in God and believes she will learn to read.
Because her belief is strong, so do I.
